The boxed trim was set at 3/4 inch for the vents to be recessed.
This gives a better 3 dimensional look.
Corners were also box cut instead of mitered.
With the base trim being wider, mitred at a 45 would not have looked good.
This vent was designed as a porch blinder and to slow the wind intrusion.
There was no screen applied for the vent to be double sided.
